A Joyful, Light-Filled Ceremony by the Sea

Their ceremony took place at Sunset Beach on Treasure Island, with waves gently crashing in the background and the Gulf Coast sun dipping low on the horizon. The setup included a romantic arch and simple white chairs—rented through the talented Luxe Memories Events, who we love to refer to our couples who want a little added décor.

From their vows to the last bits of golden light, the day felt full of warmth, love, and joyful energy.

A Beautiful Partnership, On and Off the Field

Alyssa and Derrion are both teachers and coaches—he’s a head basketball, football, and track coach, and she teaches 6th grade science and social studies and coaches track, too. Their connection and teamwork showed up in every part of the day, from how they supported one another to how naturally they celebrated alongside their two-year-old son.

Their story began in college—though they didn’t cross paths until her sister dated one of his friends and they all went to a Chris Brown concert together. (How fun is that origin story?)

Sunset Beach, Treasure Island—An Important Note

While Alyssa and Derrion’s ceremony took place at Sunset Beach, this location is currently undergoing restoration due to hurricane damage. We’re hopeful it will return soon, but in the meantime, we now use Upham Beach for elopements. It still offers beautiful rock jetties and golden-hour views—everything that makes beach ceremonies so special.
